Coming to the end of June...we've had strange weather this spring/early summer. We have had only a few hot, humid days...most have been low to mid 20's but followed with a LOT of rain. I have only had to water the garden and containers a handful of times this month...its been nice to have other things to enjoy rather than just watering. I'm thinking we should maybe look into a soaker hose set-up...we tried something like that a few years ago, but with a "sprinkler" hose and it was completely useless.
Blooming this month we've seen columbines, dianthus, primrose, clematis (type 2), gaillardia, torch lily, hardy geranium and hydranges. Everything coming from a nursery is blooming...but I don't really count those plants until they've been with me a year. All the annuals are blooming...I just love the lantana. We have two varieties this year, one being a dwarf. We will have to see how compact it stays compared to its "big brother". July should be an outstanding month for blooms....the buds are getting ready to burst...can't wait!
